The mountain fires 2022 in Ehrwald

The mountain fires 2022

The solstice fires are in the books. It was, as every year, a special experience for all who came to Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. The temperatures and the weather meant well with us this time. In perfect surroundings and under perfect conditions the UNESO World Culture Event took place.

For the information of our guests:

The mountain bonfire or also called Solstice bonfire is the highlight of the event calendar of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arana. The varied motifs often show religious symbols and signs and are best visible from the "Moos" between Ehrwald and Lermoos. Fires have been lit at the summer solstice since the 14th century. In the past, farmers and hunters wanted to drive away evil spirits and demons in order to have a good harvest and good luck.

From 22:00 o'clock the fire starts...

The mountains burn - The Wetterstein massif, the Sonnenspitz, the Daniel and the Grubigstein form the canvas for this cultural spectacle. Since 2010 the solstice fires are a UNESCO cultural heritage.
